THE DEPARTURE

She stood at the terminal in the airport
Trying so hard to fight back her tears
She watched him intensely as he hugged and kissed their son
He turned to her and wiped her tears the rolled down face
He smiled at her reassuringly and said, "I love you!"
He pulled her into him and calmed her with his warm embrace
As he played with her hair and kissed her cheek he whispered to her
"Fear not my love. Soon you shall join me and things will go well."
With that she held him close and cried on his shoulder
They heard a voice over the intercom announcing that it was time to board soon
He didn't want to leave but he had no choice he had to
She picked up their son and gave her husband one last kiss
He walked away and headed towards the airplane
She waited till she could see him no more and then she slowly walked toward her car
His words kept playing over and over in her head
She looked at her son and said, "Soon we shall be with daddy again."
With that thought she smiled and held her son close in her embrace
